HABITAT MANAGEMENT PLAN

AND HABITAT CREATION

Development is essential, but it can sometimes come at the expense of natural habitats.  At Aven Ecology, we believe in responsible development that coexists with a healthy environment.  That's why we offer comprehensive Habitat Management Plans (HMPs) specifically designed to address development impacts and create effective mitigation strategies.

Habitat Management Plans for Development:

Our HMPs for development projects go beyond simply minimising harm.  They are a roadmap for creating a net positive impact on biodiversity.  We would undertake the following steps in order to create an effective HMP.

  • Ecological Impact Assessment: We conduct a thorough assessment to identify potential impacts of development on existing habitats and wildlife.

  • Habitat Mitigation Planning: We develop a tailored plan to mitigate unavoidable impacts.

This might involve:

  • Habitat Enhancement: Improving the quality of existing habitats on the development site to benefit wildlife.

  • Habitat Creation: Transforming degraded areas into new habitats to compensate for lost habitat. This could involve planting native trees, creating wildflower meadows, or installing wildlife ponds.

  • Offsite Mitigation: In some cases, we may recommend investing in habitat creation or restoration projects off-site to achieve biodiversity net gain.

  • Habitat Management Strategies: Our HMPs outline long-term management strategies to ensure the success of mitigation measures. This may involve vegetation control, invasive species management, and monitoring programmes.
